MARRIAGE PLUS MANSION | A few months back, I helped fellow friend and photographer, Betsy Tomasello of Betsy Blue Photography shoot a wedding at the beautiful Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton, California. The couple, Kristine and Uriah, had an array of charming personal touches that detailed their day. From grandmother’s handmade table linens and bows, to a ukulele playing brother. The entire wedding was very well done. Also there to help shoot was Katie Neal and Edmund Prieto, both of whom were a pleasure to meet. I’d like to thank Betsy for graciously allowing me to come along and help shoot this nice wedding, she’s a trooper, as she shot it pregnant. The wedding was also featured here and here. Below are some shots that I captured that day.
ETHNIC EXPOSURES | If you followed the old blog, you may remember seeing some of my photographs from Japan. I stayed there for a couple weeks last year to visit relatives and see some sights. It was a refreshing trip, much is different, while much is the same in comparison to the States. Japan is however, unique in the sense that they excel so much in technology, yet maintain this authentic antiquity through traditions, temples, and overall culture. I’d be exploring 1,000 year old steps that led to ancient temples atop mountains in the day, then awing at electrically energized downtown intersections by night. The following pictures never debuted on the old blog, but now they’re here in all their glory for you to peep. Yayuh.
kyle hale - These look awesome, Chris. I hope to go to Tokyo in the next 5 years :)
Nam - I'm so in. With all the traveling I've done I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get into photography sooner. Of course I was always on orders lol, but still lots of missed opportunities to capture the beauty of other cultures. Nice work as always, I'm going to have to get tickets to the next Chris Kirby post-processing seminar.
Nadia - I do! I definitely want to go again sometime. 2005 was too long ago for me. :) Love these photos. Japan is definitely unique in that sense... that's a noteworthy point. I dig that contrast about the culture - the undeniable innovation in technology and the latest, yet the strong roots in history and tradition. It's an amazing country.
Shoda - Dude, these are great shots! Tokyo is one of those dream destinations for me, and your photos only makes me want to go more.
GRADUATION CEREMONY AND A BIRTHDAY | Over the last couple weeks, we celebrated Nadia’s college graduation and recent birthday. To watch someone you love, grow both academically and personally, is a great thing to bare witness to. Here’s to many more years of happy living Nadia, congratulations on all of your accomplishments. I’m very proud of you.
Nadia - :) Thank you so much, Chris. Accomplishments are all the more rewarding when the celebration is shared with people I love .. you. Thank you for always being there, and for all of your support. It means the world to me.
